HTTP status codes

HTTP Status Codes is the way in which HootMonitor decides whether your site is up or down. These are based on the IETF internet standard that all web servers should abide by. Below are the codes that HootMonitor recognises along with our explanation of what the code means to you. If you want further details on these error codes you can see the Wikipedia page.

The "Up" column shows whether HootMonitor thinks the site is up or down when it receives the corresponding status code from the web server. Any codes that are 900 or above are our own custom codes used for situations that normal HTTP status codes don't cover.
